PLAY TINY TANKS HERE(13th – Lots more updates!.Upgrades!.Your tank can now be upgraded with 12 different parts, combined together to make your own tank design. Very soon these upgrades will have to be bought with in game coins, earned by levelling up and getting kills. But for a few days they’re all immediately available to everyone, in order to test them out and get them all fair and balanced.Level Vault. You can now upload your custom made levels for the whole community to play and rate. Browse through hundreds of custom maps other people have made and give them a thumbs up or a thumbs down.March 12th Update: 8 Players in 1 game!.Games now support up to 8 players!
The lag compensation has been rewritten so it should be even more solid now. There’s also a new (massive) map for 8 players, and an option in the lobby for the camera to be zoomed out a bit more in game, which gives further visibility and feels like there’s more elbow room.:).February 26th Update: Single Player Campaign. The single player campaign is now up. It might need a balancing a little bit, so I’m tracking all the wins/losses people make so I can make adjustments to the AI, or the order the levels are in. Let me know what you think!.February 2012 Update: BOTS!.Single player has been a highly requested addition and it’s well on its way to being implemented. CPU controlled bots have now been added to the game, and can play in games alongside human players.
In about a week or two I’m going to add a full single player campaign, starting out with a tutorial level to get players used to the controls, then running through some of the levels against increasingly tough AI players. Let me know what you think!Hey everyone, I’m the developer of a multiplayer game here on Kong called Tiny Tanks(it’s a fantastic game but it needs players! I’ve been in contact with the Kongregate team and they advised me to create a thread here to discuss the game and drum up interest.First of all, a few screenshots:In game:!(game:!(editor:!(trailer here!(a real time, online multiplayer combat game.
Tiny Tank (marketed as Tiny Tank: Up Your Arsenal) is a third-person shooter platformer video game developed by AndNow and Appaloosa Interactive.Initially meant to be published by MGM Interactive, they dropped the title and gave it to Sony Computer Entertainment America. It was released on September 1, 1999 for the PlayStation.
Iris apfel house. Up to 4 players fight until only one player, or team, remains. The tanks fire bullets which bounce off objects, so the strategy is in making clever shots without exposing yourself to enemy fire.Almost all of the gameplay is customisable, and a level editor has been recently added, which allows you to design and create your own arenas, and then play on them with your friends. The game hasn’t had many plays here on Kongregate because when it was first uploaded anyone that tried it had nobody to play against, so it got a mediocre score and its dropped off the radar. I hope that in this thread we can get the ball rolling!
Perhaps we can organise a time for everyone to come on and play, there was a suggestion in the comments for Fridays?I’d love to hear your opinions and suggestions, it’s my intention to keep building and adding to Tiny Tanks until it’s absolutely huge:)Another link to the game here!(http://www.kongregate.com/games/Player1Studios/tiny-tanks)Thanks! Wow nice, just tried it with 2 friends, blueshirt1 and Feffers.Servers sometimes messed up, and we had trouble getting everyone joining one game as it kept saying unable to join.Movement was kind of annoying, but the physics were great and it was pretty fun. Should have some EXP system and currency system, and upgrades (Not game-breaking higher lvl wins). I’m thinking lots of different weapons, but all balanced.
The higher level weapons are kind of more interesting, but not necessarily stronger (Boomerang, Ricochet).Originally posted by.DragonArcherZ(/forums/3/topics/237976?page=1#posts-5122254):. Did you enjoy it? The movement might be a tad tricky at first but it’s set up so there’s a large difference between a player who is new and a player who has mastered it. Pressing forwards will spin both tracks forwards, pressing forwards and a direction will spin only one track, to turn slowly, and only pressing a direction will spin the tracks in opposite directions, for fast turning. Maybe this should be explained in the game. The EXP system is actually in place and running in the background, it’ll be added fully soon.
Upgrades are something I’d like to add but it would be very important that they were fairly balanced.:).Originally posted by.CaptainCatface(/forums/3/topics/237976?page=1#posts-5122264):. That’s the main issue with the game: There’s no real content. It isn’t really fun enough to stand on it’s own, without some form of upgrade system. The controls also seem a bit sticky. Basically, it got a mediocre score because it’s a mediocre game.Did you get to play a few full rounds?.Originally posted by.Gamerton(/forums/3/topics/237976?page=1#posts-5122356):. A single player would be nice, compete against bots, because it isn’t a bad game, just needs some extra features.
And it would get a much higher score. Hope you can implement the single player, would attract much more attention and funner since multiplayer is usually empty.Single player is something I’m putting a lot of consideration towards – it would solve the problem of the game not being playable when nobody else is on. But I’d like to try and aim higher than that and build a real online community. Who really prefers to play against bots anyway? Thanks for everyones feedback:). I stumbled upon this game a little bit ago, and it’s pretty fun. I originally thought it was an older game that lost its popularity, so it was a bit surprising to see that it was a new game.I’ve played several matches now with different settings, and so far, it’s a pretty fun game. I like the fact that the game saves your statistics, though rewards of some kind for leveling up would be nice.
Things like different tank colors or different tanks altogether, or some other kinds of visual perks that don’t give you an advantage over other players but look good would be nice. Something that gives the player incentive to keep playing, is what I’m trying to say. And perhaps, sometime down the road, new weapons or game types (Capture the Flag comes to mind immediately) could be added to keep things fresh. The only real complaints I have are the slippery controls and the fact that next to no one knows about the game, but hopefully, more people try it out soon.Overall, this is a fun, if a bit simple, multiplayer game that’s lacking in content and players but could easily improve upon (And hopefully will soon) these areas.Originally posted by.Gamerton(/forums/3/topics/237976?page=1#posts-5127858):. I haven’t be able to play it yet sadly:( But are you allowed to aim with your mouse? I think that would make the game even better. Because from the screenshots I don’t think you can use your mouse, you have to get in a position and then fire.
Perhaps using a mouse system where using the left-hand click is fire would be effective.Yep. I think it’s to be more strategic, as otherwise you would go in, and everyone spams their bullets.Originally posted by.Gamerton(/forums/3/topics/237976?page=1#posts-5127858):.

Perhaps using a mouse system where using the left-hand click is fire would be effective.Yep, there are two aiming modes, with the mouse, and locked forwards where your tank is pointing.
In the lobby theres an option that says “Aiming: Locked”, clicking this will change it to “Aiming: Mouse”, and the turret will aim directly towards the mouse. I find it more fun in this mode but it’s quite a bit trickier, moving and aiming seperately.I think my priority now is to add bots, I can see in the server logs how many people from Kong have tried the game but a very small portion have actually got any kills or games completed, which is a shame. The games rating has shot up since starting this thread though.:). It’s fun, but gets dull fairly quickly. Upgrades is definitely something I’m adding after the single player campaign. This is how I’m planning to do it: players select the upgrade they want available before the game starts. There are then small pickups dotted around the level, and when you collect these it charges up your upgrade. So you may need to collect 5, 10, 20 of these powerups before your upgrade is charged, but there will be lots of them available on the map.
Once your upgrade is charged you can activate it, and your charge is reset to zero. The upgrades can be unlocked as you level up by gaining experience. This experience system is already built into the game, it just doesn’t do anything yet. This way theres always upgrades to work towards, and powerups aren’t too overpowered in the game, it’s not a case of whoever runs over a single powerup when it appears gets a huge advantage suddenly. You have to collect several of these icons before it’s charged.
